Information and Communication Technology Services (ICTS) department at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham aims at identifying, providing and maintaining reliable computing facilities, computing network environment, communication facilities and related infrastructure to facilitate education, research, instructional and institute - approved business services.
The department is functionally grouped into System Administration, Hardware & Network support, Lab administration, multimedia and web designing.
Computing Facilities in the campus
The campus is well equipped with over 2000 computers. This facility is distributed across the campus in computer centers at multiple locations. The computer centers are accessible to students during college working hours. The computer centres are also kept open beyond the college working hours and on holidays for the benefit of the students as per requirement.
Computing facilities in the faculty rooms, administration and facilities management are inter-networked over high speed, redundant fiber optic backbone. The network, storage and servers are consolidated at the Network operations Centre (NOC) located in Academic Block 1. The NOC also hosts redundant Internet links totaling over 500 Mbps. The intranet site - intranet.amritanet.edu hosts links to various IT enabled services like Amrita University Management (AUMS), Digital Library, Central Library book search, Gate Pass Management System, email, ftp, helpdesk etc.
The campus is also part of the National Knowledge Network (NKN) of National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT) - a project of the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD). As part of this network, the campus is linked to other premier universities across the country over a dedicated fibre link with 1 Gbps bandwidth.
The intranet protal can be accessed from any PCs in the campus and also through WiFi at http://intranet.amritanet.edu. This portal will server as an initial page to access various services hosted on the Amrita Network, which includes the Amrita University Management System (AUMS), Central Library OPAC, Gate Pass Management System (GPMS) Developemental intranet sites etc.
WiFi at Amrita
All hostels and Academic Blocks at Amrita are covered by the Wireless Network (WiFi), Faculty and students can connect to WiFi using their campus domain controller username and password. Student may contact the ICTS Department (Academic Block I - C306) to obtain the user credentials and for support related matters.
Amrita University Management (AUMS)
This is an ERP conceived designed and developed in-house which manages the student academic and personal information and faculty information. Academic process starting from Registration, Conduct of Examination, Publication of Result, printing of Grade sheets and certificates are done using this system. This also has a Learning Management System (LMS) through which on-line assignments and tests are conducted.
A parental portal is also a part of this through which parent can monitor the academic progress of the wards.
Every student/staff is given an account in AUMS through whcih the data can be accessed and managed.

Cisco Networking Academy
Cisco Networking Academy at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, managed by ICTS was established as one of the Regional Academies by Cisco System in India in 1998. The academy is currently an Instructor Traning Cenre (ITC), an Academy support Center (ASC). The academy is authorized to conduct instructor training in for CCNA, CCNP, and ITE curriculum of Cisco Networking Academy Program.The support center offers support to all the Cisco acdemies in India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhuttan and Maldives. The academy during the past years has won various awards and accolades in recognition of its contribution to the Networking Academy Program. The Academy offers Cisco Certified Netwroking Associate (CCNA), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) and IT Essentials (ITE) courses to the students in the campus. The CCNA course helps the students to secure CCNA industry certification. Students who undergo this program can avail upto 58% discount for the CCNA Industry Certification.
The Cisco Networking Academy Program is a comprehensive e-learning program. The online course materials are designed to be used along with serveral other instructional tolls and activities.
