An induction/introductory event for any club is necessary to give the students an insight on what the club is all about, and their plans for the semester. Thus, Student Energy Amrita is planning to conduct an INDUCTION on September 30th, Thursday, from 6PM-7PM on Microsoft Teams.
The inaugural event will be an hour-long event, in which we will discuss the goals and the ideology of our club, introduce our members and open up the club to all students of the college. A detailed timeline is given below.
Student Energy is a non profit organization working on a global scale to empower the next generation of leaders who are accelerating the transition to a sustainable, equitable energy future. Over its 11 year history, the organization has planned and executed several projects in diverse sectors related to conservation. The organisation is a member of the United Nations Global Compact initiative and focuses on UN SDGs. Student Energy Amrita is a chapter of Student Energy International, with plans to help create a pathway to cultivate interdisciplinary collaborations between the different academic departments in the university that will ultimately lead to a better lifestyle for the people around us, resulting in a sustainable and cleaner campus. Through this platform, we intend to provide an extensive assemblage for undergraduate as well as graduate students to involve themselves in avant-garde research in energy technologies and policies. This will be done in the forms of workshops, debates, speaker events and networking/social events.
The primary focus of our chapter will be affordable and clean energy (Sustainable Development goal 7) to aspire for a future where energy is easily available for all, to spread awareness on reliable , inexpensive and sustainable resources, and to research renewable and affordable resources.
Other areas of focus include Clean water and Sanitation( SDG 6), Responsible Consumption and Production (SDG 12) , and Climate action (SDG 13).
We have designed a two fold agenda to achieve our targets in phases , starting with Southern India and eventually expanding onto the national scale.
We intend to cultivate the practise of thinking outside the box and to present creative solutions for demanding problems. Our society requires critical thinkers and a youth who are more enthusiastic to make a change.
